Carbon Reduction Plan 2023

Supporting Sustainability in Healthcare

At Purple Surgical, sustainability is central to everything we do. We recognise that hospitals face increasing pressure to meet environmental goals. That’s why we’ve built sustainability into our processes, helping hospitals reduce their carbon footprint through responsible sourcing and operations.

We prioritise British manufacturing and use locally sourced materials whenever possible. This reduces transport emissions and supports the UK economy. In addition, our Somerset facility uses renewable energy, with on-site solar panels and wind turbines generating 15% of our total electricity needs.

As a result, we are already ahead of schedule on our Carbon Reduction Plan. We are constantly reviewing and improving our practices. For example, we have replaced bleached packaging with unbleached, recyclable materials. We have also shifted away from printed product literature to digital alternatives, reducing unnecessary paper use.

Since 2021, we’ve planted over 7,500 trees in the UK and Africa to support long-term carbon offsetting. These efforts reduce our environmental impact and help our customers meet their sustainability targets.

Hospitals looking to align with NHS Net Zero and similar initiatives can rely on Purple Surgical as a proactive, environmentally responsible partner. Our approach goes beyond compliance. We take practical steps to support healthcare systems in building more sustainable supply chains.

By choosing Purple Surgical, hospitals don’t have to choose between performance and sustainability. We deliver both without compromise.
